It’s mid January and I haven’t done any new year’s resolutions mostly because they’re usually unreal of too far away from our real possibilities so this year I’m thinking about make a list of some fun resolutions like study a new language, learn how to make cocktails for parties or even dance lessons. If you don’t have any resolutions made so far this mixtape might inspire you to do so.
The theme was inspired obviously because of the new year but mostly because Band of Skulls’ Honest songs which is nothing but beautiful and inspiring. Also the title of the mixtape was taken from a rad new year related video titled preciscely Make it Better made by Sebas & Clim, a London-based directors duo whose amazing video full of colors and fonts made me do this. First lemme start apologizing for not posting for the last couple of weeks now but with my new job my life is changing, hopefully for good. That being said now it’s time for a new mixtape now inspired by the season. Is that time of the year where people invite you to costume parties and see kids trick or treating over the street, and even when in Mexico we celebrate Día de Muertos -day of the dead- we do enjoy the costum and the candies that comes with the American Helloween, not to mention the occasional scary mixtape. I choose some of the music I listen to when the mood is right, it is full of some spooky tunes, I really hope you like it. This is the tracklist:

In music as in literature the opening sentence is really important to cautivate the listener although finding great opening lyrics is not that easy even for bands like The Beatles or The Smiths. Even when starting with a great line is not necessarily basic for a song to succeed or became and anthem it certainly set the mood for the rest of it, living a hunger for more after that great first sentence. Here’s the tracklist:

Download At last but not at least. A Being Eclectic mixtape
It’s being a while since the last mixtape so I decided to do one with probably my favorite theme so far: closing album songs. The other day I was listening to Radiohead’s In Rainbows when I noticed how great are they to close albums with songs like Street Spirit (fade out), The Tourist, Videotape or Life in a Glass House so it became clear what should’ve be the next theme.
In most of cases the best songs and singles are in the first half or side A of the album, letting the rest to the end, but just like Radiohead proved it is also important to finish the album with a song that leave us with an amazing feeling, as good as possible and as important as the opening songs. A few months ago I created an endless playlist titled At last but not at least for my favorite songs finishing an album that now I share with you. Here’s the tracklist:

Most of the songs I choose are quite recently so they might be fresh on your musical memory but trust me, they’re only a taste of a long playlist of kick as closing songs. Also as you can imagine I left my favorite last song for last. This theme left me with another great idea for another mixtape about opening lyrics, the kind of lyrics you just heard and became a favorite of yours, once again inspired by Radiohead but this with the opening lyrics from 15 Step: “How come I ended up where I started? How come I ended up where I went wrong?”, cool idea huh? Enjoy.

D O W N L O A D If the Rain Comes. A Being Eclectic Mixtape
The rain season is here, we even had our first hurricane and a couple of storms but also is a great time for music, seems that music and rain are perfect for each other, so it’s the perfect time for a new mixtape. Usually in rainy days I listen to Rain by The Beatles -where I take the mixtape’s name from- or I’ll take the rain by R.E.M. and of course the classics Have you ever seen the rain? by Creedence Clearwater Revival or Travis’s Why does it always rain on me? which is music with a much faster tempos and nice rhytms but this time for some reason the mixtape endend up being a little bit more intimate, more calm, more melancholic if you will, perfect for the weather I guess, and it came naturally that way.
Now instead of choosing songs that talk about rain I select the tunes for its music not their lyrics, although some of them do talk about rain. I also choose these artists because I love to listent to them when it rains, they’re perfect for this kind of weather. With this calm and chill vibe on mind ended up in such a rad way may I say, a perfect soundtrack if you wanna read a nice book with a cup of tea and of course, to share it with your significant other. ‘Where Birds Always Sing’ A Being Eclectic Mixtape
Inspiration comes in such of unexpected ways, and it happened to me yesterday morning. Sunday morning I was struggling with myself to getting up from bed when suddenly a bird started singing outside my window and it was beautiful, I had such a big smile the entire day so I feel I should share that with you with a mixtape full of songs about birds, whether is on the title, sounds of birds singing or in the lyrics, either way I think is probably my favourite mixtape so far even when it’s only the third one I ever made here in Being Eclectic.
As you can see the tracklist is definitely eclectic which is always good in here, I took the titled of the mixtape from The Cure’s song which is so rad and spot on with the whole theme, I can asure you this mixtape flows perfectly with these worm days we’ve been having lately and not only that, for work too -I’ve tasted it- and even for sleeping which is a blast with those bird sounds on it.
