Hi there, my name is José Luis Lugo and I’m behind Being Eclectic. I’m a 32 years old Mexican architect currently working as a freelancer on architectural and interior design among other things related to my profession.
I started Being Eclectic about 18 months ago because I felt the need to share my interests with others, everything related with architecture, design, interiors, photography, art, music, video, fashion, culture and more. What you is what I’m, basically.
-Why Being Eclectic?
Well, this is the most common question you ask me. Is actually pretty simple, eclectic is the adjective that fits me the most. For example, my favorite bands are Metallica and Radiohead, equally. Also, during my master I studied the late 19th early 20th century architecture and the eclecticism was an interesting style, blending together languages otherwise different and separate by time used to create a new and surprinsingly rad one.
If you want to know me a bit more these are some of the most commonly asked questions you left me on my ask inbox:
1. Favorite song?
Easy one: How to Disappear Completely by Radiohead. Also, Éxtasis by a Mexican funk/rock band named Azul Violeta.
2. Favourite color?
Black. Also, blue is nice.
3. Favorite Band/artist?
Radiohead and Metallica. Pink Floyd are also great.
4. Favorite book?
Without a doubt The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. I’ve read this book like 5 or 6 times and it always made me feel different ways.
5. Favorite movie?
Well, there’s penty to choose from but I’d say Billy Elliot just because that last scene, pure perfection. I also like Finding Forrester, The Legend of 1900 and the Cell. Yes, the one with Jennifer Lopez and Vince Vaughn.
6. Dream vacation?
Definitely to New York, I’d love to go there at least once.
7. Hollywood crush?
Rachel Ann McAdams is definitely the most beautiful women in history of mankind (To GF: If you’re reading this, sorry babe).
